Child Cinderella Redo

Aaand now for Cinderella!!

Yup, I changed a lot here. Let's go head to toe, shall we?

Her hair, I changed to braids, because her normal hairstyle (hair down with a headband/kerchief) has awesome bangs, and that's how I remember her for most of her movie. Braids because don't all little girls wear braids? It just seemed to fit. Also, I kinda disliked her updo as a kid (seriously. Pocahontas's hair. I was in LOVE.) and I never really understood how it worked, especially the headband. (Ears? Where'd my ears go? No, I don't have ears!) But my dislike for the original has nothing on my real loathing for her new do. Like, that's a high ponytail with short hair. I do that when I don't want to deal with my hair being down and in my face. It's not fancy. (The adult version is worse. It's a knot. A. Knot. What?)
Crown is gone, again, she's not a princess during her childhood. Noble maybe, but not a princess!

Lips, narrowed them. Seriously. Like, which kid model did the use, and did the have a fat lip that day or something? That's not normal!
I also feel like I shrunk her head. I really should've done that for all of these redos, but for Cinderella, her head just looked enormous, and ridiculous.

Her outfit!! Can we just, like, admire this for a sec? Ok? This was inspired by the actual opening of Cinderella, where we see not only child Cindy, but puppy Bruno, young major (the horse) and her father too. (Young Drizella and Anastasia also make an appearance in this scene!!) We actually get two outfits for child Cinderella, this one, and the one she wears when she's crying on her bed after her father dies. I think it's pretty obvious why I chose this one (hint: it's not depressing) but gosh darn it all this was HARD to draw! The 'U' s in the fabric (I want to call the bloopies  but they have a better name...) were so hard to get in perspective, especially with the pose disney provided. (Err...what kind of pose is that anyway? It looks like she's trying to crack her back.)

Shoes! Ok, so I think that her dress in the actual movie was shorter, but her boots are supposed to end at mid-calf, with white stockings showing above them. Meh. I like the longer dress. Also, all those buttons! (They had to use button hooks for that. I'm scarred by button hooks. Ellis Island trivia is not kind.)

Now, the color. I'm a big fan of keeping Cinderella in her pretty silvery color. It adds an air of magic to the whole ballgown, while the blue makes it seem more possible, which is boring. But this is the original color scheme for this dress, and Cinderella looks fabulous in blue. (The other childhood dress we see is teal-ish. I wonder if blue is really Cinderella's favorite clothing color.)

I think that about wraps it up! :)

How old was Cindy when her Dad passed away? How long did it take from then to the rags?
